Clark's Corner
Late Winter Read

e="color: black;">Throughout time writers gather at special place, a familiar haunt they frequent to eat, drink, banter, and scribble what will one day become renowned works of literary prose.

Clark's Corner offers such a venue with a unique ambience all it's own and Amador Fiction Writers Critique Group has called it their second home since the doors first opened for business in early 2008.

Every other Monday, AFWCG meets in the heart of the recently restored historical building at 5:00 pm as members begin arriving and settle in the comfy wing back chairs. Eventually a circle of creative souls pours through manuscripts, sharing critiques as they hone their writing skills and work toward publication, surrounded by inspiring canvas and framed wall art as the aroma of freshly ground exotic coffee beans wafts and lingers expectantly.

Clark's hosted the group's first annual literary read; "Late Winter Read" in March, 2009 to standing room only. An "Early Spring Read" is scheduled for April 3rd of 2010 with a guest speaker to be announced. On September 10th, 2009, a "Poetry & Prose Read" is sandwiched in between, with talented local reporter, Scott Thomas Anderson offering the evening's first read. Scott is AFWCG's liaison with the Amador Ledger Dispatch.

AFWCG writes in various fiction genres - historical, literary, mystery, romance, fantasy, adult children's, picture, & YA.  Members are also artists, poets, photographers and craft artisans, and often exhibit their work during reads.

"We write, critique, rewrite, critique, rewrite, critique and then we edit - somehow out of all the seemingly endless hours of work, anguish and prayer, a book is born after a labor of love." Kathy Boyd Fellure
